Denial isn’t just a river in Egypt. La Toya Jackson used Day Two of her guest-hosting stint on The View Thursday to defend her 80-year-old father against rumors that he was an abusive bully who terrorized his famous offspring with vicious beatings during their turbulent childhoods.

La Toya spent much of the early ’90s estranged from her family after claiming Joe beat and molested his kids on the pages of an explosive tell-all book. But the former Playboy model was “Grace Under Fire” this morning as she went toe-to-toe with Joy Behar on the subject of Papa Joe. La Toya insists her father never beat her and claims Michael had a wonderful relationship with Joe, as well.

“He would just throw a show a Michael…That’s all it was” La Toya explained. (Well! That just makes it so much better!) “I think a lot of people don’t understand my father. He says things the way it is and like it is,” she added. “What he was trying to say, although he didn’t execute it properly, to the world was that, ‘I have this record company, Michael has songs that are out, so to keep the estate going what I’m going to do is put all these songs on my record company so his music can be played to fans around the world’. But it didn’t come out that way. That’s what he meant.”

Joe has fallen under public scrunity in the wake of the death of his son Michael in June, thanks largely to his irreverant attitude. First, the stage dad used a tribute ceremony honoring the King of Pop to promote his new record label. And just last weekend, Jackson brought a barely-clothed twentysomething singer he manages as his “date” at the 2009 MTV VMAs, where his youngest daughter Janet opened the show with a tribute to Jackson.
