Former Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari will return to her reality television roots when she replaces Lauren Conrad on the upcoming sixth season of MTV’s unscripted smash The Hills, E! insiders claim.

On Tuesday, producers of The Hills confirmed that series star LC is retiring from the celebreality business; they also revealed that the show will go on — without her.

Cavallari appeared on Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, alongside Laurenand pal Lo Bosworth from 2004 until 2006. The girls met as students at Laguna Beach High School — Cavallari was a junior and Conrad was a senior. The blonde famously feuded with Lauren over the affections of Stephen Colletti, Lauren’s childhood friend who was dating Kristin.

In photos from The Hills’ Heidi and Spencer’s weekend wedding, Kristin came back from the reality-TV dead, and E! claims the 22-year-old’s appearance was filmed to be screened during the Season 5 finale.

Show insiders claim Kristin will join The Hills to “play up some drama” relating to her previous romance with Hills star Brody Jenner.

MTV has refused to comment.
