Kim Kardashian isn’t the one looking to dump Kris Humphries: Attorney Marshall Waller has filed a request to be relieved from his gig as lead counsel in the sportsman’s messy divorce battle with Kardashian. Waller cites “irreconcilable differences” after bumping heads with the Brooklyn Nets hoopster over his fight for an annulment.
Kim and Kris formally split in October 2011, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Since then, Humphries has held up the divorce proceedings at ever turn. Instead, Kris is pushing for an annulment, arguing that Kim married him as part of a storyline for her E! reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Insiders say Waller decided to step down because he does not believe Kris has grounds for annulling the marriage, noting that there is no evidence of fraud on Kim’s part. Nevertheless, this change in counsel could delay the divorce once again.
Earlier this month, Kim — who is expecting her first child with beau Kanye West in July — filed a legal statement to the court, stating:
“I do not want to be married to [Humphries] when I have my baby…I am requesting the status of my marriage be determined now for not only my health and welfare but also for the health and well-being of my unborn child.”
The reality personality, 32, is worried the drawn out divorce could have “long-term effects” on her baby. Last month, Kardashian was treated for severe abdominal pains; a doctor, who was rushed to her Calabasas home in the middle of the night to examine her, warned the brunette bombshell to reduce her stress levels.
