Kris Humphries: Kim’s Pregnancy Won’t Fast-Track Divorce
If Kim Kardashian thought that occupying her uterus with Kanye West’s crotchfruit would land her a one-way ticket to Splitsville, she’s in for a rude awakening.
Kim Kardashian’s request to expedite her ongoing divorce from Kris Humphries has been formally rebuffed, with the Brooklyn Nets hoopster refusing to speed up the process. In paperwork filed Feb. 4, Kris’s lawyer Marshall W. Waller alleges that Kim’s rush to bring the case to court has more to do with her impending pregnancy than legitimate pressing matters.
“What is really going on here is that an ‘urgency’ in the form of an apparently unplanned pregnancy, something [Kris] had nothing to do with, is perceived by [Kim] as an opportunity to gain a litigation advantage by trying to force this court to prematurely set this matter for trial. Indeed, why would [Kim] plan to get pregnant in the midst of divorce proceedings?”
Kim and Kris formally split in October 2011, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Since then, the sportsman has held up the divorce proceedings. Instead, Kris is pushing for an annulment, arguing that Kim married him as part of a storyline for her E! reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The exes are due in court on Feb. 15.
During an appearance on The Today Show last month, Kim stayed mostly mum about her infamous 72-day marriage to the NBA star. When asked where the process stands, she replied:
“I can’t really speak for anyone else. It just is a process.”
All this stress may not be good for the Kimye baby. TMZ says a doctor was recently called to Kardashian’s home in the middle of the night to treat her for severe pain. He reportedly suspected stress as the cause.
Kim’s momage, Kris Jenner, confirmed as much to the hosts of The View, saying:
“Kim has been going through this divorce for months. She has been under a lot of stress because of it and the doctors told her you’ve had a really tough week and the stress could become a problem if she isn’t careful.”
