Charlie Sheen put a knife to his wife Brooke Mueller’s throat and threatened to kill her during a domestic dispute on Christmas Day, according to newly-released legal documents.

Sheen – real name Carlos Irwin Estevez – was thrown in lock-up for investigation of second-degree assault, menacing and criminal mischief after allegedly fighting with Mueller in the resort community of Aspen, Colorado, where they were spending the holidays with their nine-month-old twin sons.

An arrest warrant affidavit released on Monday quotes Mueller as telling police that the actor straddled her on a bed with one hand grasping her neck and the other holding the four-inch blade knife. The couple began arguing after Mueller said she wanted a divorce.

“Mueller and Estevez were in an argument in the upstairs bedroom… Mueller told Estevez that she wanted a divorce, that Estevez then pulled out a knife, holding it to her throat, saying, ‘You better be in fear. If you tell anybody, I’ll kill you. Your mother’s money means nothing – I have ex-police I can hire who know how to get the job done and won’t leave a trace,” the police statement reads.

Sheen, 44, denies threatening his wife with a knife or choking her. He told officers they slapped each other on the arms and that he had snapped two pairs of her glasses in front of her, according to the affidavit.
Aspen police officer Rick Magnuson, who filed the report, notes that Mueller “had red marks on the upper part of the front of her neck.”

Sheen and his second ex-wife, actress Denise Richards, also made their divorce the subject of tabloid headlines long after their four-year marriage officially ended in 2006. In June 2008, Richards released a three-year-old, expletive-laced voicemail from Sheen, in which the actor called the mother of his two daughters Sam, 5, and Lola, 4 — a “fucking cunt” and a “fucking nigger.”

In 1991, Charlie shot then fiancee Kelly Preston in the arm — though that was ruled an ”accident.”
