PETA is defending its newest nude spokesmodel, Kimora Lee Simmons, against claims that she is a hypocrite because her fashion line still uses fur.

The designer appears naked alongside her pet pooch in the latest PETA advertisement, urging people to stop caging dogs:

“You cannot just chain up an animal. It’s cruel. Dogs need to run and play.”

But critics have pointed out that Kimora’s Baby Phat fashion company still sells clothes made from rabbit fur. A PETA spokesperson tells the New York Daily News, “Baby Phat is working at phasing out real fur.”

I tell you what else is hypocritical, they’re using feather wings for a peta add… who the hell missed that?

timid_gothica: that’s a good point; I didn’t even notice the feathers or consider it as “fur.” But are those real feathers? They are so large, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen any birds with feathers that big. The bird would be huge! The only thing I can think of that large might be an ostrich, but I think they have short wing feathers and the tail feathers are long, curved and thin (from what I remember on ladie’s hats). Anyway, good point you made there. I’d like to hear what Peta says about using real feathers.

The use of fur and feathers, even fake fur/feathers perpetuates the idea that such decoration is fashionable and acceptable
