New Jersey Nets’ Jason Kidd is backing off of claims that his wife of ten years, and the mother of his three children, Joumana Kidd was physically abusive toward him.

J. Kidd recently filed amended court documents in which he removed Paragraph Eight of the original divorce filing:

Jason removes the claim that Joumana was the victim of a “jealous and paranoid” woman. The amended filing removes the claims that Joumana bugged her husband’s computer and car, and sent their son, T.J to steal Jason’s cell phone from the Nets locker room.

The new reason listed for the divorce is irreconcilable differences. “He’s trying to backtrack, but that’s like the Japanese on Dec. 8 saying, ‘Let’s sit down and talk,’ after bombing Pearl Harbor,” said renowned NYC divorce attorney Raoul Felder, who is representing Joumana. “He’s trying to save face. It ain’t going to work.

“I think he is probably trying to make himself look good and pull back with some of the rancor of the earlier charges,” said lawyer Sharon Quinn, a New Jersey divorce law expert. “The whole purpose of the new law is to get rid of the rancor. I would guess there have been behind-the-scenes discussions by lawyers from both sides.”

The ex-Budweiser model was nicknamed “Five-O” by Jason’s teammates on the Nets. She has banned from games by Nets management.
