In 1984, Kevin Bacon became a star — and eventually the subject of a very popular game — when he danced his way through the classic film “Footloose.”
So what does he think about the new version?
While some say Bacon wasn’t invited to the LA and NY premieres, that seems unlikely — I have personal knowledge that “Footloose” director Craig Brewer is an incredibly nice guy, and he’s publicly stated many times how important it was to him to pay proper respect to the original film.
So I’m choosing to believe what everyone else is saying, which is that Bacon’s schedule simply didn’t allow him to attend either of the premieres.
But what we do know is he saw the film at a Boston theater on Sunday. He tweeted out a photo of his ticket stub and said:
F-Loose! Just saw it. Congrats to Craig, Kenny, Julianne, Dennis, Andie, Miles, and the rest of the cast. U guys rocked it!
… which doesn’t sound like a guy who feels he’s been snubbed. Regardless, still a classy thing for him to do.
The reviews for “Footloose” have been so-so, but in just two weeks the film has already earned $31 million — exceeding its reported $25 million budget.
