Kerry Washington’s Bun Came Out of the Oven; Welcomes Daughter Isabella Amarachi
Olivia Pope popped! Well, what we really mean is the lady behind TV’s favorite fictional political fixer has given birth.
Scandal star Kerry Washington delivered a baby girl, Isabella Amarachi, on April 21 in Los Angeles, People magazine confirms. The 37-year-old actress married former NFL cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, 32, in a secret ceremony last July and revealed her pregnancy in October.
Baby Isabella is the couple’s first child. Both mother and child are healthy and resting comfortably at home, sources squeal.
Washington’s baby bump proved a challenge while shooting scenes for Scandal, but Kerry proudly showed off her “little accessory” all over the red carpet during awards season. Clad in a pink crop top at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January, Washington joked:
“I don’t have anything to hide anymore.”
Apparently, the name Amarachi finds its roots in Asomugha’s native Nigeria. According to Babycenter.com:
Amarachi originates from the Igbo people of south eastern Nigeria and means “God’s Grace” or “Grace of God.” It is a combination of two words “Amara” and “Chi.” “Amara” by itself means “grace” and “Chi” by itself means “God.”
