Criminal conduct at a recent Keith Urban concert in Mansfield, Massachusetts is making headlines for the second time in a week.
Sean Murphy, 18, has been charged with one count of rape after a crowd of concertgoers witnessed what they claim was the Boston man sexually assaulting a woman during Urban’s tour stop last Saturday night. According to witness accounts, a female concertgoer pushed Murphy off of the unidentified victim before he escaped into the crowd of approximately 18,000 attendees.
He has been charged with one count of rape. As news of the arrest made national news on Thursday, Urban released this statement through his website:
“My team and I were horrified to learn of the events reported in Boston this past weekend and our hearts and prayers go out to all those affected. This type of behaviour stands in stark contrast to the spirit of our shows.”
The July 26 concert first made waves after 22 people were hospitalized for excessive drinking. The rowdy event also resulted in over 50 arrests.
Murphy has pleaded not guilty to the rape charge and asserts that the encounter was consensual.
