In a scene that could only be described as something ripped right out of a screening of Animal House, nearly 100 people were either arrested, treated or hospitalized for alcohol-related antics during a Keith Urban concert in New England over the weekend.
Approximately 50 people were arrested and 46 were treated for alcohol-related illnesses during Keith’s concert at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts on Saturday night. The “Cop Car” crooner and American Idol judge has been off the sauce for over a decade…and, if reports out of Boston are to be believed, it seems the sober alcoholic may have been the only sober person in house. Emergency response units from five neighboring jurisdictions had to be called in just to tend to all the ill concertgoers.
Mansfield Police Chief Ron Sellon and Fire Chief Neil Boldrighini released this joint statement on the incident:
“In total, Fire and EMS attended to 46 medicals resulting in 22 transports mostly alcohol-related. The large number of medicals in a shortened time of approximately three hours caused the activation of a phase one EMS plan utilizing ambulances from five mutual aid communities. Police dealt with a steady stream of intoxicated persons as well, resulting in over 50 people being taken into protective custody and a number of others arrested for alcohol-related issues.”
