Keith Olbermann Leaving MSNBC — “Countdown With Keith Olbermann” Host Quits After Seven Years
Olbermann Out! On Friday, controversial, left-leaning newsman Keith Olbermann signed off as host of MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann for the final time. Olbermann is leaving the cable network — effective immediately.
The flame-tempered Olbermann had hosted Countdown since 2003.

In a statement issued to The Hollywood Reporter this evening, the network confirmed Olbermann’s departure, but offered no reason for it.
“MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract. The last broadcast of ‘Countdown with Keith Olbermann’ will be this evening. MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC’s success and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”
News of Olbermann’s departure comes two months after the commentator was suspended for making political contributions to Democratic candidates without first getting permission from his bosses at MSNBC, a violation of company policy. Olbermann, 51, was suspended without pay from the network for two days last November for making unauthorized donations to three Democratic political candidates.
Beginning Monday, Lawrence O’Donnell will fill Olbermann’s 8 PM timeslot until a permanent replacement is chosen.

MSNBC should keep Keith Olbermann and get rid of Rachel Maddow. It could be possible though that Olbermann was the one who quit MSNBC. The story will come out over the next few days. He was the only one worth watching. Just like in the morning, Joe Scarborough is tolerable but his sidekick Mika Brzezinski needs to be fired.
