People.com has confirmed that Kayne West proposed to his girlfriend Alexis (and she said yes, if I need to clarify that). While Alexis’ last name and occupation have been kept somewhat private, we do know that she’s been Kayne’s girlfriend since before his nearly fatal car accident in 2002, which you’ve heard about if you ever have listened to Kayne’s song, “Through the Wire.”

Kayne thanked the car accident in his accceptance speech for the Grammy award he won for that song, saying, “If you have the opportunity to play this game called life, you have to appreciate every moment.”

That’s a good attitude. Maybe the lack of publicity will help them beat the odds. I hope.
