She’s no longer welcome on Sesame Street, but it looks like Katy Perry is getting the last laugh. She’ll reportedly join an illustrious list of celebs who have guest-starred alongside TV’s other popular group of animated characters, The Simpsons.
The pop star will appear in a live action segment of FOX’s popular Sunday night series. Katy has been tapped to appear on a holiday-themed episode — called “The Fight Before Christmas” — that is set to air on Dec. 5, well-placed snoops squeal to Entertainment Weekly. The scene will feature Perry interacting with puppets, Simpsons producers say. Katy, who is engaged to Englishman funnyman Russell Brand, will reportedly play Moe’s girlfriend on the show and will perform “The 39 Days of Christmas” with the characters.
News of Katy’s Simpsons debut comes less than a week after Sesame Street producers pulled a skit of a cleavage-baring Perry dueting with Elmo following outrage from thousands of parents. Her Simpsons segment, however, was taped before the children’s show pulled the Katy/Elmo duet from its New Year’s Eve show.
“In the wake of Elmo’s terrible betrayal, the Simpsons puppets wish to announce they stand felt-shoulder-to-shoulder with Katy Perry,” executive producer Al Jean joked to EW.com Sunday.
