Katy Perry “Part of Me” Video Premieres

With epic music videos like “California Gurls” and “Last Friday Night” to her credit, the bar was set pretty high for Katy Perry’s latest video “Part of Me.” The single is featured on Katy’s new album Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection — a special edition release of her double-platinum-selling Teenage Dream, featuring three new songs, plus versions of her number one hits.

The disc drops March 27.

Perry has long denied that “Part of Me” has anything to do with her split from hubby, Russell Brand, but just check out the little dramatization at the beginning of the video.

“You’re such a liar” is certainly one line that sticks out!

Gone are Katy’s usual hip-hugging, latex get-ups as she gets down and dirty with hot Marines The usually girly singer is shown in full combat mode, complete with some serious camouflage makeup.

She tells MTV News:

“This is one of the most aggressive videos I’ve ever done. It’s an affirmation of strength, so I wanted to go the strongest route I ever could. I had this idea. Literally, I was like, ‘I’m gonna join the service. I’m gonna join the Marines.’ We used only Marines. No actors, actresses. Only Marines. For three days, I was a wannabe Marine, which was so difficult.”

The video was shot over several days last month at the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base in Oceanside, California. And the pop princess threw herself into becoming a damn good Marine.

“I learned how to flip someone. I learned how to flip them on their back. I learned how to wrestle underwater. I just love it and I think people really respond to it.”
