Katy Perry On Conservative Upbringing Blender Magazine November 2008

Katy Perry is speaking out about the perils of her conservative Christian upbringing in the new issue of Blender Magazine.
“It was kind of an island,” the “I Kissed A Girl” hitmaker told the music mag. “We spoke in tongues. We knew there was this one way, and all the other ways were wrong.”
Katy says even the food were under the thumb of the Perry’s devout religious beliefs. For example, the future singing star grew up calling deviled eggs angeled eggs.
“I didn’t know enough to ask my mom, ‘How come we call them that? Everybody else calls them something else.’”
