Katy Perry has been left fuming after learning that she will not be permitted to perform the opening act at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles this Sunday night.

A New York Post source overheard the eccentric singer “complaining that she wasn’t asked to open at the VMAs because her song ['I Kissed a Girl'] is too provocative” while having dinner at Marix Mexican Restaurant in Los Angeles last week.
