Katie Holmes Turned Down Lindsay Lohan’s Role (”The Other Side”)
The eternally out-of-work Lindsay Lohan has actress Katie Holmes to thank for her recent return to the Land of the Gainfully Employed, after Mrs. Crusie dropped out the new David Michaels’ film The Other Side – leaving Lohan in the lead role.
Lindsay Lohan has earned a reputation in Hollywood for quite a demon to work with. Thanks to the actress’ routine late arrivals to work and twin collars for DUI, Lindsay has struggled to land substantial scripts since her 2004 hit Mean Girls. Producers also find it difficult to obtain insurance for the party girl, but execs decided to take a chance on Lindsay after Katie was forced to turn down the part due to her commitment to the Broadway play All My Sons.
“Katie would call me from Berlin at 4 am her time to go over ideas and notes. We did this over successive weeks while she was there with Tom (Cruise) when he was filming Valkyrie. The result of our collaboration has tremendously improved the arc and dynamic of the lead character,” Michael explains.
“Lindsay’s very aware of people’s perceptions of her. She’s really committed to doing what she has to in order to change that,” he adds.
