Veteran newscaster Katie Couric is a married woman. The former Today Show host tied the knot with her financier fiance John Molner at her home in the Hamptons on Saturday.
Couric confirmed news of the nups by tweeting the couple’s first snapshot entrenched in wedded bliss. The tagline read:
“So excited to make my debut as Mrs. John Molner!”
The intimate ceremony was comprised mostly of family. Saturday’s wedding featured readings by Couric’s daughters Ellie, 22, and Carrie, 18, as well as the groom’s kids, Allie and Henry. Molner’s nieces and nephews served as ring bearers and flower girls. Katie, 57, settled on a ivory lace Carmen Marc Valvo dress a week before the ceremony.
The bride accepted a marriage proposal from Molner — Head of Mergers and Acquisitions at financial giant Brown Brothers Harriman — over the Labor Day weekend. Molner, a native of Chicago, popped the question with a diamond ring at sunset on the beach in East Hampton, New York.
Katie was first wed to Jay Monahan, who lost his battle with colon cancer in 1998. In the years since, Couric hasn’t been shy about exploring the dating scene.
She was once romantically-linked to jazz trumpeter Chris Botti. Her romance with Brooks Perlin — a businessman she met at a cancer research fundraiser — ended in 2011.
