Kathy Griffin Was Nearing Termination At ‘Fashion Police’

Earlier today, we told you of how Kathy Griffin so valiantly made her exit from E!’s show Fashion Police. Now, we have since learned that the network was looking to can her before she quit!

Griffin was applauded for her decision to leave the controversial show by Kelly Osbourne, Rosie O’Donnell and so many others. She didn’t want her brand of comedy to be diluted by the same old crap that the show produces and tweeted out her resignation.

Now, we have learned that the show was gearing up to terminate her contract. TMZ reports:

We’re told there was a pitch meeting for the show several days ago in which someone in the room pitched an idea called “Whore Score.” We’re told the idea was rejected because it was too mean.

Kathy ranted about the segment idea saying, “Name calling and alliteration with no comedic context is simply the lowest hanging fruit.” She then made “Fashion Police” sound old school and tired.

Our sources say Kathy’s comments infuriated the production staff. They felt she violated confidences and took a shot at her own show. They also said she was a hypocrite because they claim her shtick is exactly what she described.

She walked in to the show and tried to step into the shoes of Joan Rivers. Unfortunately, it was a hard task to begin with, but when the producers of the show are approaching her with ideas such as a “whore score”, it only makes sense that she quit. The show should poke fun at celebrities, but not their bodies and remain funny. It has always been a hard formula, but Rivers managed to handle it best.
