Katherine Schwarzenegger Book On Body Image — “Rock What You’ve Got”
Katherine Schwarzenegger — the eldest daughter of California Governator and former journalist Maria Shriver — has proven that achievement is all relative.
She’s written her first book
The 20-year-old — a junior at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism — shares her struggle with self-image as a teen living in the public eye on the pages of Rock What You’ve Got: Secrets to Loving Your Inner and Outer Beauty. Katherine says she was partly inspired to pen the uplifting piece on self-acceptance for young woman after overhearing her preteen cousins talk about their pursuit to lose weight.
At 18, Schwarzenegger landed an internship with Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty, where she was confronted with the startling stats about female self esteem and eating disorders — like the fact that only 2% of those surveyed by Dove found themselves to be beautiful!
“I never thought I would write a book, but my fuel came from research and information on the growing number of girls who feel so much pressure to be thin — and how young all of this is starting. My goal is to let girls know they’re not alone when they’re going through this and to spread the word about what young girls are going through today,” Schwarzenegger said in a press release issued Monday.
Rock What You’ve Got — a 227-page tome — arrives on booksellers’ shelves this Tuesday!
