Katherine Heigl Returning To “Grey’s Anatomy” (Izzie Won’t Die)
Katherine Heigl will return to Grey’s Anatomy next season. The star, whose status on the show was in doubt, had her option picked up, meaning she’ll continue on the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The news comes soon after word leaked that Katherine’s real-life bestie, T.R. Knight, won’t return to the Emmy-winning medical drama next season after years of strife with show creator Shonda Rimes.
The lives of Heigl’s and Knight’s characters were left hanging in the balance in the Grey’s season 5 finale last month.
Newlywed Izzie, diagnosed with stage IV metastatic cancer in the brain and liver, underwent successful brain surgery but lost her short-term memory, and flat-lined during the last minutes of the finale.
Knight’s character, Dr. George O’Malley, was hit by a bus shortly after leaving Seattle Grace to join the military.
