Katherine Heigl will become a mom later this week. According to RadarOnline, the Emmy-winning star of ABC’s medical drama Grey’s Anatomy and her rocker hubby Josh Kelley will finalize the adoption of a 10-month-old girl from Korea as early as Friday.

The website cites a source, who claims the couple began the adoption process on a baby girl 10-month-old named Nayleigh at least six months ago. The girl’s nickname will be Leigh. Heigl, 30, is expected to formally announce the news on an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show to air this Friday.

Katherine explains, “They told us that it was a little girl and who she was and the information about six months ago. It was meant to take a long time. This sort of thing can take years. Her name is Naleigh. Well, I am naming her after my mother and sister Nancy, Leigh. So we call her Naleigh. I just dropped that one. Anyway, I’m sure that’s fine we have to meet her first. We assume it’s a Naleigh. She has special needs. She is a baby special needs baby and because of that it all moved so much faster. They wanted to get her to us as quickly as possible.”

Katherine has always been a vocal proponent of adoption; as her older sister Meg was adopted from Korea in 1970s.

She said that she always wanted to adopt: “We started talking about adoption even before we were engaged because it’s really important to me. It’s been a big part of my life and my family. My sister is Korean and my parents adopted her back in the 70’s and so I just always knew that this is something I wanted to do. I made that really clear because not everybody is down with that. Not everybody thinks that. I just wanted to make sure that I was marrying a guy who understands that this was going to have to happen.”
