Kanye West and his manager Don Crawley have been charged with several criminal counts in relation to an altercation with members of the paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport last September.
The Grammy-winning rap star has been charged with one count each of vandalism, grand theft, and battery and faces up to two years and six months in jail if found guilty. Crawley has been charged with two counts each of vandalism, grand theft and battery, punishable by up to five years in jail.
On September 11, both men were detained following an altercation with photographers in the airport terminal; the incident occured just hours after Kanye performed at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.
According to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office, a videotape of the incident showed Kanye and his manager “forcibly wrestling a still camera from one of the photographers.”
