“You lost your shoe!”
Cops in Los Angeles County have a bone to pick with pop sensation Justin Bieber after the teen singer was caught up in a violent scuffle with the paparazzi over the weekend that reportedly left one photographer nursing injuries to his face.
Bieber now faces a possible charge of misdemeanor battery.
A fight broke out when the “Baby” hit-maker and his girlfriend Selena Gomez were swarmed by photographers as they tried to leave a movie theater in suburban Calabasas on Sunday. According to Sheriff’s Lt. Robert Wiard, all Hell broke lose when a paparazzo tried to take a picture of the young couple as they walked out of a theater at The Commons Mall.
Witnesses say the photog had been blocking Bieber’s car as the singer was trying to leave the mall. Bieber, 18, then exited the vehicle and asked the pap to clear the way. He refused and a scuffle between the men ensued.
The recent high school grad allegedly struck the photog in the face, losing a hat and shoe in the incident before running to a nearby van to be comforted by Selena. The photographer called 911 and complained of pain to his chest.
Justin had already fled the scene by the time responding officers arrived. The photographer was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and released.
Selena later addressed the melee on Facebook, writing:
“THANKS YOU SO MUCH to my fans for always protecting me and being there for me. I can’t thank you guys enough. I’m sorry I had to rush out. Love you guys.”
Bieber is currently considered a person of interest, not a suspect, in the case. Officers are working on speaking with both Justin and Selena about the weekend brawl.
Justin’s new album, Believe, drops June 19.
