British soul songstress Joss Stone has been tapped to pen the official campaign song for Barack Obama’s bid for president, a European tabloid revealed on Monday.

The British Sun claims the 47-year-old Illinois senator personally asked the Stone, 21, to record the theme for his presidential campaign.

Senator Obama selected Joss after being impressed by her appeal to both black and white voters in America, says a Sun spy.

“He sent a personal message asking her to get on board,” an insider reveals to The Sun. “He has always admired her music and thinks she is the perfect choice because of her unique appeal to black and white voters.”

“Joss is a big supporter of Barack Obama and was very excited to be asked to do this for him. She believes he is going to be the first black American president and she is honored to be a part of that.”
