Josh Hartnett is set to star in the West End production of Rainman, based on the 1988 film of the same name. The movie, which starred Dustin Hoffman, snagged an Academy Award for Best Picture.

The twenty-nine year old Hartnett stars as self-centred car dealer Charlie Babbitt, a role first made famous Tom Cruise in the original fim.

“It has always been my intent to work on the London stage. It was only when I read the complex and charismatic character of Charlie Babbitt that I knew the time was right.”

Rainman will run from September 8th to December 20th at the Apollo Theatre in London.
