According to a video released today by ABC News, Joren Van Der Sloot has confessed to disposing of the body of Natallee Holloway after she died in his arms. In the ABC video, according to Van Der Sloot, Natalle Holloway started shaking violently in his arms. Then she passed out. Joren assumed she was dead, then called a friend out of distress, told the friend not to call the police, and Holloway’s body was then taken out to sea and thrown overboard.

There are some interesting questions that remain unanswered. What caused Natallee Holloway to start shaking violently? Was she really dead or just in a coma? If she was just in a coma, then Joren Van Der Sloot essentially killed her, though without intent. It’s not clear what the law says in Aruba about such a case.

One thing is clear: either Joren van Der Sloot lied to his friend or else he lied to police. My bet is that he lied to police.
