TLC may soon be forced to change the title of The Gosselin Family’s reality hit from Jon & Kate Plus 8 to Jon Minus Kate & 8!

Locals in the family’s hometown of Wernersville, PA. say the honeymoon is over for the abrasive Kate and her henpecked hubby. Word around the town watercooler is that Kate and Jon have relegated themselves to an open marriage and have a mutual agreement that they will tolerate one another solely to keep their cash cow contract with The Learning Channel.

“I heard Kate was getting way too close to her personal trainer, so Jon started cheating,” local Trisha Berlin blabs in the May 18 issue of Star Magazine.

A second source, who asked not to be identified, agrees, explaining: “Jon goes out to meet women because Kate has given him the cold shoulder…..They have totally separate lives. Their relationship is totally over. There is no love there any longer.”

Nevertheless, Jon and Kate have agreed to “fake their marriage” for fear that they will lose the reality show, which chronicles the family’s adventures raising their brood of twins and sextuplets.

(FYI, the Gosselin Children are: 8-year-old twins Madelyn and Cara and 5-year-olds Aaden, Collin, Joel, Alexis, Hannah, and Leah.)

“It’s Kate’s idea to make it seems like they’re still together, because she wants the show to go on. Right now, it’s all about the money.”

Elizabeth Edelman, of the New York media firm Cooke & Co, believes the domineering blonde could have a promising career pimping out her life on TV without Jon.

“Kate is an extremely polarizing figure,” Edelman says, “If she had a show by herself, I believe the angle would be finding a way to make it work as a single mom with eight kids. Everyone loves a survivor story , and she would be the perfect example.”

Hmmm, would anyone watch a show with just Kate and the kids? After all, watching her yell at Jon is like half the fun.

Kate is currently crisscrossing the U.S. promoting her book Eight Little Faces. The new season of Jon & Kate Plus 8 is set to debut May 25 on TLC.
