Can you believe Jon and Kate Gosselin used to be “the couple that people always said were sickeningly sweet?” In this clip from the couple’s TLC reality series Jon and Kate Plus 8, the parents of eight joke that they couldn’t keep their hands off each other after they met in 1997.

Kate says she had a thing for bay boys before she settled down with Jon, who admits he was young and completely unfocused.

“I was doing nothing with myself. No career, I worked at a ski slope… I didn’t have any goals. I didn’t want to get married, didn’t want to have kids. Just bumming around, doing what I wanted to do.”

The once loving couple have been steeped in controversy in recent weeks, after tabloid reports claimed the he has been having an affair with 23-year-old Reading, Pennsylvania schoolteacher Deanna Hummel.
