Jon Hamm Entered Rehab For Alcohol Abuse

Mad Men actor Jon Hamm secretly entered into a thirty day treatment center for his problems with alcohol abuse. His character Don Draper is famous for drinking in just about every situation (at work, at home, etc), but the real life man realized he was suffering from a problem and sought help to correct it.

His representative confirmed the reports of the actor’s treatment in a rehab facility, but didn’t offer up any specific details about where he received treatment. The rep said in a statement, “With the support of his longtime partner Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm recently completed treatment for his struggle with alcohol addiction. They have asked for privacy and sensitivity going forward.”

Last year, the actor gave an interview where he spoke of avoiding the pitfalls associated with Hollywood and being famous. He said, “There were a couple years I was living on $5,000, that’s a pretty effective way to avoid that. I was never into the club scene. I have a couple friends who run clubs and they’ll call and say come out! And I’ll go and say, ‘Oh yeah, I forgot I don’t like this. I feel like everybody’s uncle or grandfather. I’m too old.'”

TMZ reports that Hamm checked into a high-end rehab facility called Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, Connecticut at the end of February. He just completed his treatment right before the series finale of Mad Men. We are glad to hear that he is closing the door on a horrible addiction of which his character may never recover. Kudos to him for getting the help he needs and doing it discretely. There are a ton of celebrities out there that could learn a great lesson from how this man handles his affairs.
