‘Jon and Kate Plus 8′ Editor Arrested on Child Porn Charges

As if those reality shows wherein parents exploit their kids for money aren’t creepy enough, now an editor who worked on TLC’s “Jon and Kate Plus 8″ and other family-oriented shows has been arrested in North Carolina on child porn charges.

William Blankinship, 56, was arrested October 21 as part of the State Bureau Investigation sting that rounded up two dozen men. Blankinship was charged with 10 counts of sex exploit of a minor; i.e., he possessed photos and/or video of a minor engaged in sexual activity.

In addition to “Jon and Kate Plus 8,” Blankinship also edited its spinoff “Kate Plus 8″ and other TLC shows like “17 Kids and Counting” and “Table for 12.”

He was not, however, a TLC employee, but rather a subcontractor for a company called Figure 8 Films, which said in a statement:

Bill Blankinship was employed by Serious Robots, with whom Figure 8 Films subcontract for editing services. Upon learning of the shocking allegations his employment was terminated. At no time was this man ever in the field or in direct contact with any of the talent for any of our productions.

No bond has been set. A spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Prisons told RadarOnline, “Usually when that happens, they’re under the authority of the U.S. Marshals until they are sentenced and convicted, and then they’d be sent to a Federal prison.”
