John Stossel, host of ABC’s Friday night newsmagazine 20/20 is peeved after the network pulled the plug on his five minute segment on Canada’s healthcare system to devote more time to coverage of the death of Michael Jackson.

John’s piece was set to air last Friday night, but was nixed in favor of running a memorial to the King of Pop.

“I am sick of the Michael Jackson coverage,” the journalist fumed on his blog page at abc.com on Wednesday. “I hate it that ABC didn’t run my piece.”

“Of course, maybe my bosses made the wrong choice,” Stossel wrote. “Maybe more viewers would have tuned in for my health care report. But the beauty of the market is that if they regularly choose wrong, they will go bankrupt.”

According to senior vice president of ABC News, Jeffrey Schneider, the piece was mainly a compilation of clips from previous specials and will air sometime later this month.

“It’s a very big moment in the culture,” Schnieder said of Jackson’s passing in a statement Wednesday. “And it’s a story that continues to develop hour by hour and day by day. There’s enormous interest in it.”

Would anyone like to air their thoughts on this?
