Now that Indiana Senator Evan Bayh has announced plans to vacant his Senate seat, native son singer John Cougar Mellencamp seems the natural choice to replace him. Over 1,000 people have joined “Draft John Mellencamp for Senate” on Facebook in a bid to encourage the rocker to make a run for office. Mellencamp, an outspoken liberal rocker and Iraqi War opponent, once backed scandal-scarred politican John Edwards for president.
