John Mayer is threatening to sue a tabloid over reports that he is planning to cash in on his relationship with Jennifer Aniston by writing a tell-all book.

According to the Star Magazine, the 31-year-old pop rocker was planning to pen an account of ahis on/off romance with the Friends star.

John has dismissed the reports and is so infuriated he’s contemplating dragging the publication’s publishers into court.

“Even for them, it’s a new low. They’ve dressed themselves up but they’re no better than the Enquirer. Despite their low standards it’s still not ok to make up stories and print them,” a representative for Mayer tells gossip blogger Perez Hilton.

“Unfortunately, while we’re considering legal action, Star Magazine is already at work on next week’s cover story about some reality TV star’s secret marriage to Elvis,” the rep added.
