John Mayer Slams Huffington Post Over Faux Aniston Reunion Claims
In the past week, dozens of publications have wondered whether John Mayer and Jen Aniston are rekindling their romance.
The “Gravity” singer — who split from the 41-year-old beauty in August 2008, began dating her again in October that year before separating for the second time in March 2009 — admits he is a strong believer in “second chances,” and that it’s important for him to “be with” the one he loves.
“I believe in second chances! You might have been a pain in the ass the last time around, but you can still start over again from home base. Next time you get a text from the one you love just text back ‘come over’ – no matter what happened in the past. If you really love someone, just tell them and be with them,” Mayer said speaking during a concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles last week.
That’s all Star Magazine needed to post an “exclusive” scoop about the reunion of John and Jennifer — but it took The Huffington Post’s coverage of the rumors to finally incite an expletive-laden Mayer rant on the subject: “HuffPo … You’re a stripper wearing reading glasses,” he snarked in a blog post Wednesday, alluding to the fact that it’s worse to read a “fabricated, cobbled together and misleading” story on an otherwise hard-edged news site than in a tabloid.
In a blog post entitled: “JOHN MAYER SLAMS HUFFPO: ” GO F*** YOURSELF!” — Mayer fumes: “The reason I’m calling you out instead of all the other magazines that make stories up out of thin air is that In Touch and Star Magazine aren’t concurrently writing pieces about Pat Tillman or WikiLeaks. Those other rags know who they are, and even if they’re obnoxious, I’d rather have to live with them because they (and the rest of the world) know where they stand, which doesn’t make them one tenth as dangerous as you are.”
