John Lennon Killer Mark David Chapman Parole Denied

The New York State Parole Board denied the release of Mark David Chapman, the convicted killer of Beatle John Lennon, for the fifth time on Tuesday. Chapman has been behind bars in Upstate New York since shooting Lennon outside his Central Park West home in 1980.
“It’s dangerous for him to come out,” Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono said Monday. “Not only for us, but for himself.”
“[It's] not so much because of punishment. There are so many people out there who dislike him. It’s safer for him to stay in jail.”
