Shamefaced outre designer John Galliano — the same fashionisto who was tossed out on his ear as the creative director of Christian Dior this week after being caught making anti-Semitic remarks in a drunken taped rant — has checked in to an undisclosed rehabilitation center, where he’s seeking treatment for his troubles with alcohol.
Citing anonymous informant types, The New York Times says the British-born Galliano reached out for help at the urging of close colleagues and friends, including supermodels Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss. Other tipsters believe the stress of running a major fashion conglomerate in a rough and competitive economic climate got the better of John.
While the treatment center is not known, The Times believes Galliano is likely lodging at The Meadows, a facility in Wickenberg, Arizona, where Elton John and Donatella Versace were treated in previous years.
Galliano, who designed for late Princess Diana, had been at the helm of Dior since 1996. Despite the scandal that began when John was arrested for verbally abusing a Jewish couple last week, Dior will forge ahead with Friday’s Fall/Winter ready-to-wear fashion show in Paris as scheduled.
