Although Tony Romo intends on keeping his promise to escort singer Jessica Simpson to her sister’s reported wedding in Santa Barbara this weekend, the Dallas Cowboy and the Ditz are officially kaput, according to numerous celebrity weeklies. A combination of evasive coverage by the paparazzi, Jessica’s clinginess, and unwanted advice from an overbearing Joe Simpson led to the couple’s recent bustup, a former Eastern Illinois College teammate of Tony’s tells CBS 2 News Chicago.

Romo’s friend said the talented QB has been put off by the intrusive style of Joe Simpson, who’s been ”not only telling Jessica every move to make, but now has begun to offer unsolicited advice to Tony on his career, endorsement opportunities and things that have nothing to do with him dating Jessica,” the Chicago press spills.

According to the Romo spy, the football star was very upset by Jess’ interview in the June 2008 issue of Glamour Magazine, in which the singing star is quoted referring to Romo as her ”future husband.”
