Jessica Simpson Will Stop Weight Watchers Diet During Pregnancy

Celebrity watchers have raucously wondered what will become of Jessica Simpson’s seven-figure Weight Watchers deal now that the star is pregnant for the second time in seven months.

Now we know…

Simpson, 32, revealed she was having baby No. 2 with fiance Eric Johnson, 33, on Christmas Day. Jessica gave birth to the couple’s daughter, Maxwell, in May. On Wednesday, the singer-turned-stylista once again shared her baby news, this time in the latest Weight Watchers commercial.

The Fashion Star mentor insists that this is “perfect timing.” But Cheryl Callan, Weight Watchers’ Senior Vice President of Marketing, says Simpson — who has lost more than 50 lbs. with the program — “will not be following the program during the pregnancy while her weight and well-being are monitored by her obstetrician, as is recommended for any woman during pregnancy,”

“It’s wonderful news and we couldn’t be happier for Jessica, Eric and big sister-to-be Maxwell. We’ve seen first-hand that Jessica has a refreshed outlook on food, activity and the importance of developing healthy habits, which we hope will guide her through this next pregnancy and beyond. She has come a long way and we know her story and success will continue to inspire others.”

The statement adds that:

“After she gives birth, Jessica and her doctor will decide when she may resume following the Weight Watchers program.”
