Jessica Simpson refuses to call off the search for her beloved five-year-old Maltipoo — even though the animal was abducted from her L.A. home by a hungry coyote more than 72 hours ago. In a scene straight out of a movie, Jessica’s dog, Daisy — a birthday present from ex-husband Nick Lachey — was snatched from her backyard by the wild animal, before Jess’ very eyes.

The desperate actress and singer will continue calling on fans and neighbors to help rescue her dog — although cynics have suggested she is foolish to believe Daisy is still alive after seeing the coyote strike.

“Still holding out hope despite the assholes that say it is a dumb thing to do,” the 29 year old wrote on Twitter Wednesday. “Daisy is my baby…why would I stop searching? I’m a mom,” she continued.

She regularly took the pet onstage with her and allowed Daisy to accompany her during live television appearances.

Shortly after the coyote made off with Daisy, Jessica posted on Twitter that she was “heartbroken” and offered a reward for her safe return. She is also working with professional pet finding company, FindToto.com, which has sent out a voicemail requesting information on Daisy’s whereabouts to 1,000 neighbors in the star’s Calabasas neighborhood.

(As an animal lover, I feel just awful for Jessica and Daisy. What a way to go! This poor girl just can’t catch a break. I’ve lost pets to old age and the grief was nearly paralyzing. It really does feel like losing a member of your family.)

This is a great, considerate article. Most of the articles have been cruel. Obviously Jessica loves her dog and needs to be absolutely sure she’s exhausted all possibilities in searching for her. This is what a good owner would do. Everyone would be criticizing her if she didn’t look for her dog.
