Jessica Simpson Recruits “Real Women” To Model Collection During New York Fashion Week

The last time “normal women” were allowed on the catwalk, Carrie Bradshaw became “fashion roadkill!” In spite of that, the sometimes curvy and downright dimwitted Jessica Simpson is looking for around the way girls (as LL Cool J would say) to model her Jessica Simpson by Jessica Simpson Spring/Summer 2011 collection when it premieres during New York Fashion Week next month.

In 2009, Jessica, 30, faced harsh criticism for her fluctuating weight. As someone whose lived on both the larger and smaller sides of the racks, the singer/actress is ready to ditch the trend of using skinny models in her Fashion Week showings and has instead opted to use everyday women to showcase her newest designs.

“Jessica Simpson plans to unveil her latest collection for the media at New York Fashion Week in September, but there’s a twist. Instead of using super-skinny models to showcase her designs, Jessica has decided to send her best friends – real women in real sizes – down the aisle,” a loose-lipped fashionista close to Simpson reveals in the Sept. 6 issue of Life & Style Magazine.
