Jessica Simpson is calling a Time-Out on dating after being sacked by Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo one day shy of her 29th birthday, The National Enquirer has revealed.

“She needs time to clear her head, so she’s putting dating on the back burner,” a Simpson Camp mole yaps. “Jess knows she’s overly needy and tends to define herself by the men she’s with.”

After her marriage to former husband Nick Lachey ended in 2005, the one-time star of MTV’s Newlyweds embarked on one disastrous romance after another — leaving exes like Dane Cook, Johnny Knoxville, and John Mayer in her wake. Now convinced that she is relationship poison, Jessica is taking a six month break from boys to focus on “inner growth.”

“She’s refusing to be set up, she doesn’t want to date, and she’s definitely avoiding meaningless hookups,” says a friend.

For the time being, Jessica is immersing herself in plans for her upcoming reality show, The Price of Beauty, which set to make a splash on VH1 later this year.

“Jessica wants to figure out what she does to repel men and fix it….She’s hoping that with a period of introspection, she’ll be able to bounce back stronger and find her true Mr. Right.”
