Network suits can barely get the ball rolling on the fourth season on Jersey Shore — nonetheless, MTV has announced plans to produce two (Count ‘em) spinoffs inspired by the ratings winner — one starring series besties Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “J-Woww” Farley, and the other featuring The Shore’s resident mixmaster, Pauly D, hitting the ones and twos on the international scene.
Rumors that Snooki and J-Woww were planning a spinoff show surfaced earlier this year, after the notorious party girls were spotted filming a pilot together in Jenni’s hometown of New York. Pauly D, currently spinning every weekend as the house DJ at The Palms Las Vegas, is believed to have begun working on his music-themed show late last year.
“We’re excited to put the spotlight on their lives away from the shore as they pursue their individual passions, careers and relationships. Both series are fun, fresh ways for us to evolve what is an already successful brand for us,” said Chris Linn, MTV’s Executive Vice-President of Programming/Head of Production.
Reacting to the news in a posting to her Twitter page, Snooki wrote: “So I can FINALLY Announce..I Got My Own Spinoff! #SnookiRevolution (sic).”
“Imma Be On @MTV Momma !!!!!!!” an excited Pauly beamed in a posting of his own.
Both shows are scheduled to wrap up production later this year. MTV are eyeing 2012 premiere dates.
This is the best news to come out of Seaside Heights all week. On Wednesday, production on the fourth season of Shore was postponed until May as producers and the show’s stars — including Snooki, Jenni, and The Situation –hash out the financial particulars of a new deal.
Season 4, which could be the last, will film in Italy.
