MTV Jersey Shore Protests
Did you catch the series premiere of Jersey Shore? Do you find it offensive?

Dough! Domino’s just says “No” to guidos!

On Friday, Domino’s abruptly pulled their ads from all future broadcast of Jersey Shore, a controversial new docu-soap raising cain on MTV.

A rep for the pizza chain tells TMZ, “The content of this particular program is not right for Domino’s Pizza.”

Jersey Shore follows eight deeply tanned and heavily hair-gelled Italian-Americans who share a house for the summer. The show, which premiered on Music Television Thursday, began sparking debate before it ever aired. Last month, UNICO National, a national Italian-American organization based in The Garden State, slammed the reality show’s portrayal of Italian-Americans as “offensive.” The show elies on “crude stereotypes and highlights cursing, bad behavior and violence” in depicting young renters at a beach house in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, the group protests.

Domino’s and UNICO aren’t alone in their concerns about Jersey Shore. Daniel Capello is the executive director of the Jersey Shore Convention & Visitors Bureau. He’s worried New Jersey’s portrayal on the show will keep tourists — and their dollars — away from the state’s beach towns next summer.

“There seemed to be physical violence, a very brash attitude toward sexuality — certainly a lot of focus on vanity,” Cappello said criticizing the series. “It portrays the Jersey Shore as a culturally vapid place. I don’t want someone from Bucks County saying I’m not going to the Jersey Shore when they see these, frankly, shocking images of people who are visiting there.”
