Representatives for Jeff Goldblum have dismissed online reports claiming The Fly star died in New Zealand yesterday.

The death news sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, which lost actress Farrah Fawcett and minutes and pop superstar Michael Jackson within hours of each other on Thursday.

Local police reportedly told MoviesOnline.com that the star had fallen to his death on the set of his new movie on New Zealand’s North Island. Officials claimed the actor had fallen from the Kauri Cliffs while shooting a scene for the unnamed project.

The actor’s publicist has denied the story.

“Reports that Jeff Goldblum has passed away are completely untrue. He is fine and in Los Angeles,” Jeff’s rep Lisa Kasteler said Thursday.
