New York City’s swanky Standard Hotel has a well-crafted reputation as a Big Apple haunt filled to capacity with hobnobbing celebrities. Today, however, the establishment is best known as the place where Solange Knowles beat the bejesus out of hip-hop mogul Jay Z.
You know him, the legendary lyricist who just happens to be married to Solange’s equally legendary sister, singing star Beyonce.
As even more footage from the nearly four-minute fight between the warring in-laws emerged on the blogosphere Monday, the hotel that provided the elevator where Solange did her sluggin’ tried to distance itself from the melee.
And, undoubtedly, any potential lawsuits. (Can one really expect privacy in a public elevator, equipped with a camera in plain-sight?)
According to a statement released to TheGrio.com, management at the Standard places keeping guests’ fistfights and family feuds under wraps tantamount to providing outstanding customer service. They’re “shocked” that one of their own leaked evidence of Jay and Solange’s, until now, quiet battle for public consumption.
In layman’s terms: Heads will roll when Standard Hotel chiefs figure out which of its staffers sold the tape to TMZ.
“We are shocked and disappointed that there was a clear breach of our security system and the confidentiality that we count on providing our guests. We are investigating with the utmost urgency the circumstances surrounding the situation and, as is our customary practice, will discipline and prosecute the individuals involved to our fullest capacity.”
