When President Obama announced that he now supports same-sex marriage, he cited his Christian faith as the reason for his “evolving” views. You can count Jay-Z among the celebrities backing Barack’s support of gay marriage.
Check out what the “99 Problems” told CNN on Monday:
“I’ve always thought it as something that was still holding the country back. What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That’s their business. [It] is no different than discriminating against blacks. It’s discrimination plain and simple.”
One of the president’s most skeptical constituencies is the African-American community, as many of its religious leaders are notably “conflicted” about the fight for marriage equality and its comparisons to the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s. But proud new papa Hov shrugged off the potential loss of votes, noting that doing the right thing and backing gay marriage was more important than appeasing some supporters.
Do you think Obama’s support of same sex marriage will hurt him in the general election in November?
