Turns out that the last trailer wasn’t the last one, after all.
The Japanese trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens reveals so much more about the main focus of the film, and it looks like Daisy Ridley’s Rey is this franchise’s Luke Skywalker. And before you ask, no, the actual Luke Skywalker is still conspicuously missing.
In this brand new trailer, a voiceover asks Rey, “Who are you?” She responds despondently, “I’m nobody.”
The trailer also shows Rey meeting the little droid BB-8, and it seems like he’s the first sign that something is not right in the galaxy. The trailer also shows the introduction of Finn to Rey, and we even catch glimpses of Chewbacca!
Rey is shown with Finn running through the desert of planet Jakku, and being threatened by stormtroopers and the shadowy figure of Kylo Ren. There is a lot more footage of battle scenes.
In this trailer we also hear what sounds like Lupita Nyong’o for the first time. A voiceover is heard saying, “Hope is not lost today. It is found,” echoing the title of Episode IV, A New Hope.
The trailer above appeared on Disney’s Japanese YouTube page, and the film opens on December 18th.
