Glee’s Jane Lynch has been tapped for a role in The Farrelly Brothers’ long-delayed Three Stooges movie.
Deadline.com reports that Lynch, who nabbed a Emmy for playing bellowing Cheerios cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester on the hit FOX show, will appear in The Three Stooges as Mother Superior, a nun overseeing the orphanage where the three accident-prone brothers grow up. The holy character tries desperately to find homes for the boys, but is unable to do so.
The FOX comedy, directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly, will star Chris Diamantopoulos as Moe, Will Sasso as Curly, and Sean Hayes as Larry Fine. Lynch joins Modern’s Family’s Sofia Vergara, the same actress she famously edged out for that Emmy, as one of two female leads planned for the film.
Production begins next month.
